Crush on you? You on crush?

Carlsbad Coastal Winery evokes deep feelings!

Save 2 Dates Local Wine Lovers!
9/23/07 and 10/6/07!

1) Sunday, September 23, Wine Garden at the Oktoberfest 2007; sponsored by Carlsbad Coastal Winery.

We have discovered a new hobby, similar to gardening, but possibly a lot more fun.Wine making at the local winery! Making our own wine without having to grow our own grapes? Who thought that up? Let me buy them a drink…of home made wine.

Actually, wine-making without grapegrowing locally was Wine Maker Brian Vitek’s bright idea. Hence, Carlsbad Coastal Winery.

And you can taste the results on the day of the Encinitas Chamber’s Oktoberfest 2007 as this year a WINE GARDEN is included.

BRIAN’S BRIGHT IDEA!

Vitek learned about wine when he was servicing a winery account for UPS and had to find a way to transport freshly picked grapes to an off-site winery.

After doing the research to help the client, Vitek was hooked on wine making himself and soon wanted to share the grape crushing gospel with others.

“The entire Carlsbad Coastal Winery operation is run by volunteers,” he promises. “At The Crush itself, during the barreling, the bottling, every weekend at the retail counter at one of our two wine-tasting rooms in the North County. All volunteers.”

“While it might sound like giving up your pocket knife, kite string and pet bullfrog to Tom Sawyer in order to paint Aunt Polly’s back fence,” laughs Vitek. “There is something magical about the way wine is made that people love to participate in.”

2) Save The Date 2; The FALL CRUSH at Cal State San Marcos! SATURDAY, OKTOBER 6TH. Tickets open to all for purchase. Grape crushing reserved for ladies-only! Grapes are picked in Napa and Sonoma and by evening, they are being shipped via refrigerated trucks down to San Marcos to be crushed the next day and turned into a vintage wine in 18 to 24 months.

Talk about day-trip romance!

Open the sunroof the morning of Oktober 6th and cruise your date out to Cal State San Marcos; a fifteen minute drive max and spend the day watching your date run around a grape tank like Lucille Ball and then at the end of the day why not pursue a bottle or two to take home?

A Wine Garden at this year’s Oktoberfest?

Maybe you’ve attended the Oktoberfest every year, for 14 years but would rather have a glass of wine with that bratwurst, rather than a cold brew? Welcome to Carlsbad Coastal Winery’s WINE GARDEN 2007. Beer not your thing? Try the wine as Little Alex would say! Carlsbad Coastal Mellow Apathy is the number 1 seller, a blend of cabernet and merlot.

To take part in the Fall Crush 2007 on October 6th, 2007 go on line to www.CarlsbadCoastal.com or call for tickets at 619-871-7643. Otherwise, see you at the Oktoberfest 2007.
