Harvest is Already Here

August 18th, 2008

Harvest is already here! I can’t believe it. It seems like just a few months ago we were wrapping up the 2007 harvest and preparing our new location for its upcoming events. Well 9 months later our 1st harvest is due on Sept 5th, and by popular demand it’s going to be a stellar Sav Blanc from Lake County (north of Napa). We’re excited and scared for harvest this year.  Last year we did over 10 different varietals, some of which will be released at our 7th Annual Crush Party on Oct 11th at Cal State San Marcos. We added Grenache, Barolo, Arneis, Zin and Nebbiolo to our already established line up of Cab Franc, Cabernet, Merlot, Petite Syrah and Barbera.

This years Harvest is going to focus on Cabernet, Barbera, Syrah and of course our Mellow Apathy blend. We’ll also receive some Cab Franc, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Grenache and some other Rhone Style Reds, but mainly for making stellar blends, not single varietals.  We will do single production varietals for the wine club only as a benefit, but will limit its distribution to the general public. We’re also trying to secure the same Dry Creek Zin which we made an awesome wine this year, we’ll release it to the Wine Club in Late November, it’s showing really well and has an unheard of 17.2% alcohol and is dry with a ton of body. We might make this one the 2007 Fifty Barrels Reserve. General Public Release will be in January 2009.

Just a few dates and places to remember, First, Our 7th Annual Grape Stomp and Crush Party at Cal State San Marcos is on Oct 11th, tickets are already available at localwineevents.com. Second, we’ve moved the Luau to Dec for a winter luau. Third, Meet the winemaker at Vino 100 in San Marcos on the 29th and 30th of August. Fourth, make sure to visit us at the Encinitas Oktoberfest on Sept 26th  and the Carlsbad Oktoberfest on Oct 4th. Places to remember Gregorio’s in Carlsbad is now serving Carlsbad Coastal’s Mellow Apathy by the glass and our Syrah, Barbera and Reserve Cabernet is available by the bottle and, Vino 100 in San Marcos who is selling our Mellow Apathy,  Fifty Reserve and shortly our Barbera.

Thanks to everyone for your support and patronage, we truly appreciate it,

Cheers
